Schwab RT Application Service Provider (ASP) Model
Schwab Retirement Technologies® (Schwab RT) now offers the Application Service Provider (ASP) model, a technology outsourcing solution to plan administrators who want to outsource both the software and hardware technology to Schwab. The ASP model takes full advantage of the most current Schwab Retirement Technologies' Recordkeeping, Call Center, Web and Voice solutions. By adopting the ASP model, plan administrators can significantly reduce the overall costs and complexity of internal recordkeeping administration.
- Key Features
- Schwab RT hosts the recordkeeping, web, call center, and voice applications on a distributed architecture to easily accommodate TPAs with unique business models.
- Hardware and software capabilities are hosted by the Schwab Data Center located just outside Cleveland, in Richfield, Ohio, the same infrastructure that currently supports Schwab's full-service retirement plan offering. Technical support is provided by representatives located in Richfield, as well as by those at Schwab RT's headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina.
- Schwab RT configures, runs, maintains and upgrades systems so clients can administer their own plans from their own location.
- Plan administrators maintain control of their recordkeeping process and their data.
- Outsourcing technology means clients maintain control of their business while Schwab assumes ownership of their technology needs.
Benefits
Focus on Your Strengths
The ASP model allows plan administrators to focus on their core business objectives and continue to control their product usage, client management, data and processing rules. Schwab RT maintains the technology so clients can concentrate on what they do best: relationship building, administration and customer service.
Reduce Overall Costs
The ASP model may reduce the overhead cost and complexity of internal recordkeeping administration. Clients can better align revenue and costs to support their business needs. The average TPA spends about a quarter of their annual revenue on IT support such as software and hardware upgrades, license fees, labor, network connections, security, backup recovery and IT staff. With the ASP, no cost is required for IT personnel, hardware/software maintenance, upgrades or training.
Variable Cost Structure
The ASP model offers pure scalability with a varied cost structure based on the number of active participants in the plan. Plan administrators do not need to invest in hardware and software. Costs are directly proportional to revenue and the client base. Schwab RT maintains the technology, so clients do not need to.
Remain Competitive with the Latest Technology Available
The Schwab RT ASP solution helps clients become more competitive and remain current with the latest technology and product support available. They also have direct access to the full suite of Schwab RT products including SQL Recordkeeping, Web, Call Center and Voice, which is also the same software provided to in-house licensed clients. Schwab RT manages the hardware and software, which means easier installations, upgrades and day or night product access. Schwab operates and maintains the servers that run the ASP solution, so they remain current and operational. Plan administrators can focus on growing their business, while Schwab RT delivers the latest technology.
